Plumbase donates England football table to children’s hospice south west
As World Cup football fever is gripping the country, a local plumber’s merchant is donating a football table to Children’s Hospice South West. Plumbase on the Whiddon Valley Industrial Estate in Barnstaple, presented the table in the week before England’s first match against the USA.
Plumbase donated the £300 football table to benefit children at the hospice sites. The table is decorated in England colours and has the FIFA England national crest of three lions.
Nicholas Bartlett, manager at Barnstaple Plumbase, said: “I know that most of our customers and staff are getting very excited about the World Cup and we are pleased to be able to help children at the hospices get involved as well. Plumbase is a local business that likes to contribute to the community where it trades and this is our way of saying thank you.”
Children’s Hospice South West cares for children who have illnesses which mean they will die before reaching adulthood. The charity provides expert care for them, their parents and well siblings. Despite the serious nature of its work, the hospices are joyful places filled with love and laughter.
Opened in 1995, Little Bridge House was the South West’s first hospice and has been followed by the opening of the second at Charlton Farm, just outside Bristol in 2007. Funds are now being raised through the Precious Lives Appeal to build a third hospice in Cornwall, which will be called Little Harbour.

I have no doubt that we will make very good use of this “footie” table, and would like to thank all at Plumbase for their very welcome support. This is a lovely donation indeed.”
Plumbase is a plumber’s merchant that supplies heating and plumbing engineers and members of the public. Plumbase has teamed up with one of its major manufacturers, Rothenberger Plumbing Tools, to supply the football table.
